Lens filter for my Oly C-750 UZ camera?
I’m planning to get some lens filters, especially a UV one to protect the body lens. I understand I’ll need a tube adaptor as my camera doesn’t have any threads to screw on additional lenses.
Furthermore, I’ll be getting (hopefully) a polarizer filter to enhance my phototaking experience. So the following is what I need:
- 45.6mm to 52mm lens tube adaptor
- 52mm UV filter (looking at the one from Hoya)
- 52mm polarizer filter (don’t think I can afford the Hoya one - any recommendation?)
Anyone can suggest where I can find these locally in the Klang Valley? I found an online shop specializing in these lenses @ The Filter Connection that ships internationally. But of coz, it’ll be easier if I can get these stuff locally, so anyone knows? TV Smith?

Most bigger shops carry them. Hoya is a good choice and the Polariser is a good idea, not that expensive though. Just get the cheaper linear instead of circular version.
You might want to try at a one-stop place like Sungei Wang area. Start at K-Mart at LG of BB Plaza. Warning: the old man proprietor is very grumpy and the wife has got zero PR…

Heh heh.. I sort of know the K-Mart people personally; gotta agree on that nevertheless.
I have a Hoya for my SLR camera which I got from that shop, though. But TV Smith’s right - just browse around the many camera shops in Sungei Wang (never bothered to get a lens filter for my C-740UZ).

Hmm… thanks for the comments - but from what I read, isn’t linear polarizer meant for non-AF cameras?

I mean not recommended for AF cameras?

There is a lot misconception on this. Basically, the (more expensive) circulars are needed for (mostly SLR) cams with ’split-beam’ metering system. Most rangefinder type digital cams are not of this design (including your OLY 750). Therefore, a ‘linear’ is just as effective, as far as I have know.

You’ll need to switch off ‘auto mode’ as it will compensate and negate the results of your PL. Look at the LCD screen as you rotate the filter to fine tune the intended effect.
