… that didn’t involve me…

On Valentine’s Day, Sarah and I noticed a young couple having their romantic dinner at a table not too far from ours… After a while, we noticed that the guy over at that table wasn’t around… but we didn’t pay much attention to it until he reappeared…

This time, head’s sweating, walking back holding a bouquet of roses in a very pathetic kinda way… he was dragging the bouquet upside down until it touches and sweeps the floor until reaching their table… which he then placed it on the table, and continue talking to his girlfriend/date who was still eating…

They spent some time there talking, we spent some time figuring out why he acted the way he did… perhaps the gf/date demanded a bouquet of roses? After the gf/date finished her meal and with further chatting with the guy, the guy paid for the dinner and then they both left the table…

Can see at that time, the guy wasn’t the happiest guy on earth as the gf/date was looking really pissed and can see her face was darker than charcoal! Gosh… could it be that just because he didn’t want to get her roses in the first place that caused all these?

Luckily my gf’s an understanding one… and I deduced that only 4 types of guys normally would buy daylight-robbery-priced roses on Valentine’s Day:

1) Guys having crush/interest on a particular girl but no progress or notification yet (good day to be giving out roses to finally break out of the secret admiring stage)

2) Guys having crush/interest on a particular girl that’s not available (got bf or married, take your picks) - kinda a way to impress the girl and show the girl’s bf/husband that there’s competition coming their way… smiley

3) Guys having pretentious girlfriends where they still need to be impressed rather than be understanding about the situation where only the flower sellers win…

4) Guys who got just too much cash to spend on, and can afford to buy the biggest rock for his girl, and roses are just the formalities smiley

It’s not like I’ve problem buying roses for my gf on Valentine’s Day… just find it not special at all… everyone will be having it and would you want something that everyone else have it? I’d rather go against the grain and get something more special, meaningful and original smiley

So I’ll stick to michaelooi’s don’t spoil the market campaign smiley
