w00t! This blog is now on the new WordPress v1.5.

If you haven’t notice by now, I’ve also changed the layout a bit. There’s still a bit of construction and refining work on this blog. So please bear with the noise and potholes until it is done. Let me know if you stumble into any bugs.

Earlier this afternoon, most of KL and the southern peninsula of Malaysia experienced power blackout - supposedly due to a power trip at the Port Klang Power Station (according to The Star)

The outage lasted about a couple of hours at my residential area - the slow return of power could perhaps be due to TNB unable to deploy mobile generator units as our country is on a diesel shortage smiley

I actually called my mom (she was out) earlier to ask her to buy some candles should the power outage continues into the night smiley

Last night, chet made a RM 100 contribution (approximately USD 26.32) to me with the message:

Hope it’s enough for one bottle of good wine. Merry Christmas.

Thanks chet, I’ll try my very best not to spend it on booze smiley

… sorry for not blogging as often as I could. Just wanted to wish all of you out there Merry Xmas, Happy Hannukah, and season greetings! smiley

Oh yeah, got a good news and a bad news as well… I’ll start with the bad: I just got tsewei hooked to blogging, so yeah, the Internet will be filled with more rants from her, all thanks to me *gulp*

And the good news: She’s having her own blog now, so you poor readers don’t have to suffer thru her rants while visiting my blog. However if you feel like reading her rants (are you nuts?!), please check out her site at http://tsewei.theuseless.com/

Can’t wait to pick tsewei up at the KL Sentral train station early next morning… oh yeah, we’re dating now smiley

Hehe, I’ll pull a Jeff Ooi since he’s not around: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) finally broke silence on the issues of Maybank (and possibly other commercial banks following suit) trying to impose fees for online banking access. More details can be found here at The Star Online.

Now all 16,332 (and growing) Maybank account holders can rejoice and be rest assured that even if Maybank charges online banking fees, it’s moderated by BNM smiley

Yay! smiley

Coz the mahjong session at home just started, and I can’t blardy concentrate on my PHP development, so I decided to drive out and go wireless. And then on my way out, my dad saw me lugging my pool cue case along my laptop case and asked “playing pool again? how many times a week you go play pool lah?”

I didn’t quite answer him - it’s not like I really wanna go out and shoot pool. Heck, I really wanted to stay home for dinner as well. But it’s just noisy as hell everytime they play mahjong, all the more when one of my maternal grand aunt is here to play - she talks like a blardy PA system. And later I don’t feel like going home for dinner coz there’ll be a night market/pasar malam on the street just below my house - so entrance to my carpark is blocked, and parking elsewhere is hell - with the crowd drawn in by the market. So I’ve no choice but to opt to play pool to kill some time until 11pm..

Sigh.. if only my dad understands… ok ok, I gotta calm down and then get productive and not rant further…

I really really REALLY can’t wait to move out… bleah!

UPDATE @ 6.31pm: I so need to pee now, but I’m alone here with the laptop and all… argh! smiley ops:
UPDATE @ 6.55pm: tsewei just came by to keep me company till her dinnertime, how sweet of her, my bladder thanks her for eternity smiley

a song by Travis

When I first held you I was cold
A melting snowman I was told
That there was no one there to hold
Before, I swore, that I would be alone forever more

Oh, wow, look at you now
Flowers in the window
It’s such a lovely day and I’m glad you feel the same
Cos to stand up, out in the crowd
You are one in a million
And I love you so
Let’s watch the flowers grow

There is no reason to feel bad
But there are many seasons to feel glad, sad, mad
It’s just a bunch of feelings that we have to hold
And I am here to help you with the load

So now we’re here and now is fine
So far away from there and there is time, time, time
To plant new seeds and watch them grow
So there’ll be flowers in the window when we go

Was driving home early this morning around 1.15am after my pool session at Kafe Rack in Subang Jaya. I took the route of NPE Highway (there goes another RM 1.60 for the tarmac) heading towards Kuala Lumpur. Right opposite where the Shell station of Taman Sri Manja (can say pretty darn near where Canny Ong got murdered), I saw an image of a person trying to cross the road.

Upon closer view, that guy, a chinese in his late-30’s wearing nothing but his undies, was not crossing the road, but rather, walking IN the middle of the 3 lane highway with both his hands held up behind his head. Crazy fella, managed to slow down and stayed on the left lane to avoid him. I then noticed that a motorcycle almost hit him, perhaps the motorcyclist was riding way too fast to notice the human obstacle. I stopped at the side of the road, and promptly made a call on my mobile phone to Emergency Services (112).

Told the guy of the incident and he connected me to a nearby police station, gave down the details of the incident and my contact number. By the time I was done on the phone, the madman walked off the highway’s Jalan Templer exit and up the bridge towards the Jalan Templer roundabout. I followed him, while continue to provide specific location information over the phone to the police officer. He had then dispatched the patrol units around the area to investigate this incident. I followed him until he was stopped by the police and interrogated at the roadside, past the primary school at the roundabout, almost reaching the Mobil petrol station and the mosque.

Stopped for a while to see what was the police doing to the madman, he was crouching down, constantly saying sorry in Malay language. I then told the police officers that it was me who made the call and they said they’ll transport him to a nearby hospital. Well, so much for a weird incident.

I attempted to take a few photographs (the police officers allowed me), but it didn’t come out any good with my T610’s cameraphone. In case you’re wondering how he looks like, very much like RT (referenced here, here, here, here, and here)! smiley

… came from Benet Leong, my buddy. He contributed RM 200 (that’s about USD 52.60). Thanks mate! smiley

Can’t wait to see you when you’re back to civilization!
