You know you’ve been on the computer for way too long when…
by auyongtc
… you see an ant crawling at the end of your monitor and you instinctively moved the mouse, hoping that the mouse cursor would reach the edge of the monitor (not the screen, the plastic edge) and flick the ant off…
ROTFLMAO!
Hehe, that just happened to me…
Okay, I better get off the PC, gotta go to the bank for my dad and then meet up with Sarah…

Did you know…
by auyongtc
… that there are over 2 billion IP addresses (Internet Protocol address), actually 2,001,304,819 to be exact currently allocated to 226 countries all around the world?
According to IP Counts by Country from Whois Source, United States is allocated close to 1.3 billion IP addresses… not surprised there - just another point proving that the United States is the heart of Internet. Japan came in 2nd while Korea is only 7th on the list below China (goes to show China’s Internet services are on the rise).
But look closely… especially at our country, Malaysia… it’s lying lowly 41st on the list at 1,886,305 IP addresses. Even our puny neighbour, Singapore is ahead at 38th on the list with 2.2 million IP addresses. Hong Kong is way better, with 5.4 million addresses placing them 25th on the list.
How I managed to find out the ranking, you might ask… well, I simply used MS Excel 2003’s Import External Data - Web Query function to import the entire HTML table from the website and did a simple sort. Not too sure if this function is available on previous versions of Excel so YMMV.
Now back to our dismal 41st position on the list… goes to prove that broadband penetration or rather, Internet penetration is still very low here… we only needed 1.8 million IP address coz most rural users are still on dial-up Internet access (including yours truly in Timbuktu Nilai - only a 28.8kbps dial-up
tooi: ). What to do, there’s only so many lines available for 1515 users that there was no need for more IP addresses.
Sigh… what’s your comment about this? Let’s discuss it at the comments section…

Why?…
by auyongtc
… oh why is it when my life feels lifeless, my morale is low, my spirit is dim, my emotions hit rock bottom and you will show up in my life, making me feel glad to be alive, drawing rainbow across my sky and lighting up my life so I could see again… oh well, doesn’t matter why, I’m just thankful that you’re now here for me…
You said that there’s surely someone out there for me… I say you are the someone out there that should belong with me…
And since it’s Christmas, I would like to dedicate the song below just for you, my dear…
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Let your heart be light,
From now on our troubles
Will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on our troubles
Will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.
Through the years
We all will be together
If the Fates allow,
Hang a shining star
On the highest bough,
And have yourself
A merry little Christmas now.

2 race seats left for 2004 F1 season…
by auyongtc
… and where the hell is Alex Yoong? Not that I’m hoping to have him back into the F1 scene… but not too long ago, he claimed that he’ll be back for next season with a race seat and it doesn’t seem to be happening…
All but 2 teams have confirmed their race drivers for the 2004 season. The 2 teams are the Jordan and Minardi team. Jordan has yet to announce who will be the Nick Heidfeld’s teammate but rumours seem to point Ralph Firman and Jos the Boss.
And I don’t suppose Alex Yoong will fit in a Minardi car next season, no way after all that shit Alex brought to Minardi, in terms of unpaid sponsorships
I should really go find Alex and interview him - see what he’s got to say now… tee hee
Anyway, here’s the list of confirmed drivers:
Ferrari
- Michael Schumacher
- Rubens Barrichello
BMW-Williams
- Ralf Schumacher
- Juan Pablo Montoya
McLaren
- Kimi Raikkonen
- David Coulthard
Renault
- Fernando Alonso
- Jarno Trulli
BAR
- Jenson Button
- Takuma Sato
Sauber
- Giancarlo Fisichella
- Felipe Massa
Jaguar
- Mark Webber
- Christian Klien
Toyota
- Olivier Panis
- Christiano da Matta
Jordan
- Nick Heidfeld
- ???
Minardi
- Gianmaria Bruni
- ???

I hate it…
by auyongtc
… when procrastination rules my life!
Really gotta do something about it… really gotta do something quick too! Darn! I really feel helpless and that I’m a slave to a life that’s beyond my control…
I… MUST… GET… BACK… IN… CONTROL!!!
On a brighter side, I finished playing XIII… the ending tells that there’s gonna be a sequel (I’m okay with that - good plot, good game)… and I guessed it all along that the mastermind behind the assasination of President Sheridan and bid to takeover United States was the President’s brother! *woops, too late for a spoiler alert!*

The Mancunian derby…
by auyongtc
… today at Old Trafford ended with Manchester United going to the top of the Premiership table (at least for a couple of hours since Chelsea’s playing Bolton now) after beating Kevin Keegan’s Manchester City side 3-1.
Paul Scholes is really my hero for this match - not only for scoring 2 goals, but also for preventing a goal right on the goal line to ensure that I get my bonus this weekend to get myself a little something for xmas…
Okay, been a tiring day… gonna call up Sarah before I doze off to sleep (yay! I’m sleeping normal again!
)

Driving to KL city horror…
by auyongtc
… was what I experienced today!
Well, my dad’s DiGi postpaid line got barred coz of exceeding credit limit (pandai him of using it to call to Vietnam
) so I had to travel down to KL Plaza’s DiGi Centre to make the payment. Left home at around 12 noon…
Was using the Federal Highway route, but shortly after passing the Jalan Tun Sambathan exit, got myself stuck in a not-so-bad traffic. It’s alright, coz I took a detour via the Jalan Kampung Attap exit towards Dewan Bahasa instead… however, that got me into an even bigger traffic jam before even reaching Dewan Bahasa… so I promptly swerved right towards Sungai Besi/Jalan Pudu direction instead…
And you’d think my nightmare was over by then… nope! Another traffic jam greeted me, this one so bad, I think in 10 minutes I only moved like 500 metres! Like that’s not bad enough, I saw the temperature went up to a dangerous level, so I took an U-turn back towards the Istana Negara…
In case you didn’t know, I’m actually quite blur when it comes to roads in KL - I’m rather a PJ/Subang kinda guy… so while I was driving towards Jalan Kuching I was frantically thinking of another route to the Golden Triangle area!
Realised that I could turn out after the Muzium Negara towards Dataran Merdeka. Made that turn and subsequently went into Jalan Tun Perak - luckily it was not so bad there… and from there I managed to reach Low Yat Plaza’s carpark without much trouble - in total it took me 1 hour 12 minutes (including going down till Basement 5 to park my car…)
Then I walked to KL Plaza, noticed that there’s a digital camera roadshow at the main concourse area - hmm, my Olympus Camedia C-750 Ultra Zoom is still retailing for RM 2,199 - it’s still a steal when I got it so many months back at RM 1,680!
Waited for my turn at the DiGi Centre to pay the bill, and then filled up a form to extend the credit limit of both my dad and my line (both are registered to me) to RM 400 instead - so that I don’t have to go thru the hassle of paying before I even get my monthly bill! Geez…
Walked around a bit but wasn’t in the mood for any xmas shopping since I am still quite broke… nevermind ler, cuci mata
only ler. Went back to Low Yat Plaza while waited for Bee San to call me for lunch (she works at an office inside Lot 10 - lucky her!
).
Dropped by CyCom - my regular PC hardware shop in Low Yat to say hi to Ken and Wan (the bosses there) and went to get myself the XIII game on DVD format. Was trying to get Matchstick Men on DVD also, but was not available yet…
Bee San called, and we went for lunch at the little Japanese shop that serves okonomiyaki. This is my 2nd time there… nice
!
For more details - see Huai Bin’s blog about it here - it has good explanation and pictures too!
After that, I sent Bee San home and we got ourselves stuck in a few more traffic jams… eek! No more travelling down to KL city on weekends for me! This is truly one thing that I would never miss while being in Timbuktu Nilai (another one would be free parking in Nilai!
)
Tiring day behind the steering wheel… but at least the food I had was nice and the game I bought is really cool!

2 new lap records in 2 weeks…
by auyongtc
… is what the new McLaren MP4-19 is capable of in testing as of today!
Pedro de la Rosa broke Jerez’s lap record at 1m16.210s with other cars at least half a second behind. David Coulthard had just broken Valencia’s lap record a fortnight ago (I wrote about it here)
Here’s another glimpse of the car to watch out for in the next season!
