According to The Inquirer, a truckload of computer chips made for Maxim Integrated Products Inc worth USD 2.2 million was hijacked in Malaysia on April 16, 2005. Anyone saw this on the local newspaper?

Beware if a suspicious man in an overcoat comes up to you and offer you really cheap chips instead of fake Rolex watches in backalleys. You can always try to report that fella for up to USD 50,000 reward - an easier way to win 50k than joining the Fear Factor smiley

I’ll never look at my wantan mee the same again, especially when I’m waiting for the seller to cook it up when I order it for take-away. First, it was the Pringles can for Wi-Fi directional antenna. And now, someone thought of using the Chinese noodles strainer (typically used by wantan mee sellers) to create a Wi-Fi dish antenna!

Don’t believe me? Check out this site - USB adaptors & DIY antenna = “Poor Man’s WiFi” ?

Finally I’m releasing a WordPress plugin - the WP-Upload Manager. This is the 3rd plugin I’ve developed, with the first 2 plugins still not ready for primetime smiley

It’s a plugin to allow you to manage your files uploaded with WordPress’ Upload feature (that lacked features). Development of this plugin was inspired by tsewei as she ranted on and on about how WP lacked this feature smiley

Details of the WP-Upload Manager plugin can be found here.
Additionally, all my developed plugins will be available thru this page.

Enjoy smiley

We all know it’s not tmnet’s fault, but it’s tmnet’s ignorance that we’re all furious about. Slight drop in performance they said (read here) - and up until now, no further news from tmnet. Way to go…

Connection to international websites and online services are down to a crawl. Productivity is affected. Nowadays, the Internet is not just for fun (not just for idiotic girls to chat up michaelooi smiley ), people’s lives are depending on it!

Let’s start rallying support for monetary compensation to refund our streamyx bills! I bet they’ll say that the Internet access is just fine, except that accessing international sites are at snail’s pace. No way we’re gonna take that, Internet to us doesn’t just revolve around Malaysian networks!

Having to financially suffer a dip would very well teach tmnet not to be ignorant in terms of notifying its users and keeping them informed, and to be pro-actively involved in ensuring that the network in Malaysia doesn’t suffer such a big network slowdown again.

How on earth can we ever pitch to be a technology-centric country besides boasting what’s left of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC)? How on earth can we ever compete with countries like India to be a global or regional outsourcing hub when slowdowns like this can happen and drag on (perhaps until April 20 for the links to be fixed!)??

Would like to hear your opinion… please comment (and keep it clean okay?)

UPDATE: 5 mins after blogging this, my internet connection improved a bit - access to my site was really slow, but now it’s somewhat improved. Hmmm, conspiracy… smiley

Seems like Renault’s the team to beat this season. The results speak for themselves, 2 win out of 2 races. They’ve really managed to come up with a superb complete package for this season. Though I’m singing Renault praises, that’s not because they gave me their bike and that I’m about to jump ship to support them. I’m still very much a McLaren fan, and I’m glad at least there are teams trying to give Ferrari and that overpaid German a run for their money.

McLaren came up with quite a good car too, evident with the best race lap record set by Raikkonen just 2 weeks ago. However, it seems that there are still issues to iron out, especially with the car setup to suit the 1 lap qualifying. McLaren is still hampered by the lack of performance during these qualifying sessions that is so different than those sessions a few seasons back. It didn’t help with Montoya stupidly got himself injured over tennis… let’s hope that Pedro de la Rosa can step up the plate and help deliver some vital points for the Silver Arrows in this race.

As for Toyota, they really springed a big surprise to the F1 fans around the world. Out of nowhere, they improved tremendously to become one of the top 5 contenders and now could even vie for a maiden grand prix victory real soon. This Japanese team started from scratch a couple of seasons back and now they’re comfortably well within the top 5, I’m impressed. Too bad, earlier Ralf Schumacher screwed it up during his qualifying session and dropped so far back down the grid, that there’s gonna be nothing much he can salvage in tomorrow’s second qualifying session. Be on the lookout for Jarno Trulli though, he’s really the man to watch this weekend to try and snatch victory away from the boys in blue. As for Ralf, I’d like to tell the Toyota team boss to start checking out some drivers in the paddock to replace the younger Schumi. He’s almost past his due and can never get out of his brother’s shadows.

Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari… had it so bad the last 2 races, that they had to force the introduction of the F2005 car for this race. Embarassingly, they’re short of a gearbox for Rubens’ car. Didn’t help that Rubens just screwed up his qualifying session earlier with a big right front wheel lockup at Turn 1. Schumi managed to prove that the new car is so much better than the modified F2004, but I don’t think it’s invincible. Nope, the car this year seems pretty ordinary to me. It’s about time I guess, the glory days of Ferrari may soon be over. New powers are emerging on the racetrack, that’s undeniable!

Oh yeah, Datuk Michelle Yeoh was spotted in Bahrain at the Ferrari team garage. In case you didn’t know, she’s the fiancee of the Ferrari team boss, Jean Todt (yeah, that short grumpy looking fella). Now, if the wife of a Datuk is called Datin, what’s the title for Jean Todt when they finally walk down the aisle? smiley

Also, I think Michelle Yeoh is now a better Malaysian F1 figure than Alex Yoong. You’re forgiven if you have no idea who’s Alex Yoong, doesn’t matter really. Well, if you really want to know, just check out 8tv’s broadcast of F1 races this season, and you can see him there. Yeah, sitting on a couch, not driving an F1 car. Why is Michelle Yeoh a better F1 figure? Well, at least she’s in the Ferrari camp! smiley smiley smiley

It’s April already… a quarter of 2005 is now behind us. It’s amazing how time flies…

In just over a month, tsewei will be back from her stint in Ithaca, NY…

My 2nd last semester in Inti is almost coming to an end…

My birthday is not too far away, soon I’ll be 24 (yeah, I’m born in the Year of smiley ) …

And in a blink of an eye, it’ll be my turn to leave…

Sigh, how time really flies…

P/S - I’ll announce where I’ll be leaving when the time is right… stay tuned.
